This is a photo that Pete's aunt Peggy took and entered into a "slightly staged" contest in their town - and won first place (and second, and third, according to the caption that I cropped out). That's Marble cuddling with him there. Unfortunately, Barley isn't into the cuddling, so these days he's on his own for reading on the couch.
Her comment for this one was "As you will see, his reading position has greatly improved over the years". Note Pete's super sexy grey sweatpants. He still owns very similar ones, which he insists on wearing on a regular basis throughout the winter.
