Runnin' a mic check....

I found an app that will let me post from my phone and wanted to try it out, so here's a quick test while I'm waiting for reports to run!

Delays....

We've been super busy packing, moving, and now unpacking, so I've barely touched my camera (although I did remember where I had packed it Tuesday, so at least I know where it is again!). Here are some very random updates on the move to tide you over for a bit. ;)

Anyone on Facebook already knows this, but while we were in the process of moving our furniture on Sunday, someone took our four BRIGHT orange kitchen chairs from the courtyard where we were loading the moving truck. I was really upset. It took me a few hours to get over it, and by the time we had turned in our keys I was calm enough (and sad enough) to leave a nice note by the door asking whoever had taken them to please call me and return them. After a full day went by and I hadn't heard anything, I thought I was never going to see them again. And Ikea doesn't sell them in orange anymore. Yesterday on Craigslist I found a single orange one, but didn't think it was worth buying just the one. About an hour later I got a call from a number I didn't recognize, and it was a guy that lives in our old building saying his buddy thought our chairs were trash and took them, and that now he has them and will meet me with them. Yay! One quick Zipcar trip after work and my orange chairs are back with me, where they belong!

It's funny what you think is awesome when your fist move. Our list is probably still growing, but so far: the AHmazing water pressure in the shower, the timer on the oven, being able to buy beer & wine at the grocery store. There are also a few things that we didn't expect to take adjusting to but have. Among them: grocery shopping (it takes twice as long to find everything because it's a totally different store than our old one) and having to actually walk into a room or yell to be heard from a different part of the apartment. You would think this is common sense, but three years in an open loft was enough for us to forget that you can't just speak in a normal voice and expect someone on the opposite side of an apartment with doors and walls to hear you!
We still have a good amount of unpacking and getting settled to do (which, for the record, is almost entirely my fault - Pete's done most of the work so far), but so far so good! Even the cats have stopped hiding under the bed all day!

Hiatus

Folks, it's been busy around here! I've been finishing my training, had guests in town, and now I'm doing all the last minute planning and packing for the 3 Day. I'll be on hiatus (as if I haven't already been!) for a bit...I've got the 3 Day this weekend, and then we leave next Wednesday for Wisconsin Wedding Wackiness - two wedding, two days, 308 miles in between them, plus a visit with Pete's parents. I'll be back sometime in early-mid August.

New! And improved?

I've been wanting a new look for the new year, but had to put it off until I got the hard drive issues straightened out so I could work in Photoshop again. The header is more or less what I had pictured in my mind, but there will likely be some tweaking. I've been really craving lots of airy, bright, white spaces lately and since I can't overhaul the apartment, I thought I'd overhaul here to fill that craving.

FYI

I've been doing very limited photo editing and transferring this week because my computer was a little sick...but I (finally) took the time today to back everything up, reformat the hard drive (without partitions), and put everything back. You know what that means?! I didn't think so...it means let the photo editing begin!!!

I'm still getting a few last things taken care of computer wise, and tomorrow morning I'll be transferring photos from my camera, editing, and uploading everything I've got from the past few days...so keep your eyes peeled for updates tomorrow!

Annoyed

I really have been trying to update, but Blogger won't upload my photos! Hopefully that's fixed soon.

ETA: It's just one photo, of Champ in a plastic bag attacking her tail, that won't upload. I got the rest, so look back over the past week to see them...

I have a handful of photos to update with, but we've been busy! Lots of our formerly free time is spent hanging out and playing with Champ (who is doing AWESOME! I'm sure I'm jinxing us by putting it in writing, but she seems to have finally mastered pooping and peeing in the litter box, woohoo!).

If I'm not working, eating, sleeping, or playing with Champ, I'm probably walking! I did 15 miles with 16 other folks that are training for the Boston 3 Day yesterday, and I'm off to Provincetown with my girls for the day today. I'll see about catching up on some posts tonight when I'm back or tomorrow night after work!

Also - to the lovely lady that was climbing under the car to try and rescue Champ and noticed us on the trolley the other day: I'm so rude! We didn't introduce ourselves - please leave a comment and say hi if you found us. Or just say hi next time you see us on the trolley or at Flat Black!

Holy smokes!

I knew it had been a while since I transferred photos from my point and shoot, but I didn't realize exactly how long it had been - I threw a few of them up here for you: one, two, three.

Names!

I was talking with Pete yesterday about perhaps putting myself out there to shoot portraits. To really do that, I need to build a portfolio (Friends! Call me whenever you want pictures...couples, families, kids, singles...whatever!), come up with a name, order some business cards (Mini Moo Cards, of course!), buy a domain name, etc...

On the list, the top if it is a name, because I can't really buy a domain and build a site and get business cards without one, right?! I really wanted to do Paparazzo Photography, but the domain is already taken. Then I was thinking Sarah G Photography, but again...domain taken. Right now I'm contemplating Orange Dot Photography (or Orange Dot Photo...I live in Dot, I love orange, it's memorable, the domain is available, and I think it has awesome logo potential!).

Now's your chance to weigh in on that or suggest others! Come up with the one I use and I'll send you something awesome to show my appreciation....
